I received this book the other day. I had the pleasure of working with these two men back in the day. Everything written in this book is very true as to our lives working in the jail. It is a must read if your are thinking of going in to this profession. They pull no punches and no sugar coating. This was our life back then and today. We have had people come in for a tour of the jail and walk right out that day. Those are the smart ones. This job is not for everyone. This is a best seller and it is one of the most accurate book to read for the truth of a jailer. The bond we have is like no other and that is what we had. I am retired now and I am glad that Capt. Joe Defranco and K-9 Officer Tom Duncan decided to write this book to let everyone know what it is like to work in a jail. May God Bless both of them and every other Correction Officer who has worked or is still working today. They will always be my Brothers and Sisters for life. Betty VerrelliProduct details

Life As a Jailer Through the Officers Eyes Capt Joe Defranco K9 Off Tom Duncan 9781483469812 Books Reviews
I had this book read within approximately three hours! I like the whole book but my favorite chapters are chapter 4 and chapter 10. Chapter 4 because I am a big believer when it comes to respect, also, because the picture in that chapter relates to the team I am on at work. Chapter 10 because I am very sarcastic and absolutely get a kick out of dedicating a couple pages to the sarcasm put towards proving a point. 👍❤️😊💪😊
Wow.....This book takes you from being a young officer full of self doubt to a mature officer, realizing you are not there to judge anyone, knowing the difference between empathy and sympathy. .....Your "words of Life" would be useful in all Corrections Academy s. Will share this book. TY
My husband is a CO and I was just amazed at how accurate this book really was. Even though I see him everyday and deal with the effects of his job there were still things in this book were eye opening. Thank you.
I just finished this book and it is right on the money I spent 25 years in corrections and this book is on target Thank You Joe and Tom.
I read this book as soon as I got it. I recommend it to any correctional officer or anyone who knows a correctional officer. I have almost 24 years in, it is very factual regardless of what state you work in. I enjoyed it very much.
I luved this book. Very in depth view of what really goes on , inmate behavior wise, inside jails n prisons. N just how dangerous the job really is. It takes special kind of people to do this job.
This book should be read by anyone thinking about going into corrections or anyone who has a family member in the field. I have been in corrections for 25 years and could relate to every detail in the book. The authors did not miss a beat! It touches on everything from new recruits, veteran officers, administration and the way inmates treat staff. The authors truly said it all when they say that corrections can be a thankless job but anyone in the field knows the family we have behind those bars.
