After receiving a preview copy of this book a couple of months ago, I loaned it to a friend of mine. She and her husband are both wonderful people. Unfortunately, however, he has gained twenty pounds in the last few years and she was becoming very concerned about his health. Since this book seemed tailor made for someone with her problem, I told her about it and she decided to give it a try.

Basically, the book is about motivating a husband to lose weight by the wife first providing an example of how to do it. Contrary to what is seen on many television shows, rarely will you find a couple where the husband is a couch potato and the wife is a long distance runner. More than likely, if one person in the relationship is a slacker then the other person is as well. The good news, however, is that one partner often responds positively to the changes the other one makes. How to go about making these necessary changes and the many techniques involved are the focus of much of this book.

At first, my friend had the same difficulties that other people face when changing their own lifestyle. She had to devote more attention to herself and her own body than ever before, so as to motivate her husband to get active as well. This required a certain degree of willpower to keep going even when things occasionally seemed hopeless. After a while, however, she began to enjoy the challenges of her diet and fitness routines. While it took several weeks before the husband asked her to go for a long walk with him, there was finally a break through there as well.

This book doesn't provide a miracle plan which is guaranteed to transform a lousy marriage into something wonderful. If there are emotional or psychological issues which are the root cause of dysfunction, then any book probably won't help. What it does do, however, is provide a reasonable plan of action for finally getting a husband off the couch and onto the treadmill. The basis of this plan is the idea that most folks are competitive in nature and wish to match their partner's successes with their own. My friend tells me that she is very happy with the results so far. While her husband isn't running marathons yet, he is more active now than he has been in years. Given how lack of physical activity and obesity are the root cause of so much disease and early death in western society, wives owe it to themselves to try and do everything possible to keep their husbands motivated and fit. A helping hand is sometimes required to show people a better way of living. With this book, you have detailed suggestions, tips, and strategies on how to begin changing your own life and your husband's in the process.

Ladies, nagging doesn't work. I've tried. The more I pull the potato chips away, the more I find him in them at night. Chubby honey sounds cute but I miss that chiseled hottie I met at the gym years ago. This book has so many non-nagging tips and tricks I can't WAIT to try. It's an easy diet too, that I can do right along with him. Who knows, I might get a little hotter myself. I cannot WAIT until dinner time! Sexy honey in six weeks... um... how could I turn THAT down?
First off, I want to go on record as saying that my relationship is not in peril nor has it ever been. I simply bought this book to spice things up a bit and make my marriage reminiscent of when we first started dating. My husband and I both agreed that this book definitely had some very helpful hints in it and I feel that the author, Prentice Prefontaine, has made some very good points. We do tend to let ourselves go after we get married and that isn't fair to either person in the relationship. This book shows just how to change that and add a little lust back into the mix. I did find certain parts in the book a little too long as many of us don't need that much explaining to, but I suppose the author is right in covering the material thoroughly so who am I to judge? I did like that the author was very blunt in his writing, sometimes that's the best way to get through to people and create a change in them. He mentions several ways to get your spouse to do something without sounding like a nag and, in fact, he says that less talk and more action is the key. Although his approach is very scientific, he writes it in layman's terms so that we can all understand just what he is saying. All in all, this book is a worthy read and something that can not only change your marriage but also your life.

I am really having trouble with my hubby in this department! Fitness is a lifestyle and a hobby for me, and there's nothing I love more than working out and eating right. For him, however, it's a chore.

I can't wait to try these tips and get him back into the shape he was when we graduated high school. I miss seeing those abs!

The book is very well written and everything seems reasonable. I think I'll be able to use this! I'm really happy I bought the book, and will try to update once the six-weeks are over.

Over the past few years it has become clear that weight is an important health issue concerning many who struggle with weight loss. It is important to set the first step and that is to want to have long term weight loss.
Changing the way you go about eating can make it easier to eat less without feeling deprived. It takes 15 or more minutes for your brain to get the message that you've been fed.
